Vehicle Fuels

Calor Autogas - the key to a cheaper, more environmentally friendly fuel.

As an environmentally friendly fuel, Calor Autogas, is subsidised by the government in Northern Ireland, resulting in lower pump prices.

Most petrol cars can be converted to LP Gas with no need for a new or replacement engine.

The capital cost of conversion can be recouped, on average, within a year.

The conversion can normally be completed within a week.

Almost all converted petrol vehicles utilise a 'dual-fuel' system allowing both fuels to be used as required via a switch on the dashboard. This arrangement increases the mileage range.

Driving on LPG means you have the obvious advantage of greater fuel capacity needing only to refuel every 150 -250 miles. This means longer distances can be achieved between refuelling points.

The use of LPG extends the life of oil, spark plugs and catalysts. This is due to the cleanliness of the product and it's almost complete combustion.

Mileage Performance Comparisons

Tests indicate that in terms of 'vehicle performance' petrol and LPG are roughly the same. The use of micro-electronics in modern LPG systems gives even greater efficiency. Such technological advances give three main advances over previous LPG systems.

  • Increased fuel efficiency
  • Even cleaner emissions
  • Better driveability
